ARTSMART APP

I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to maintain a database of your work and sales.

While galleries usually have someone maintaining a database, if you part ways the gallery isn’t required to share images or other information with you, such as the names of your buyers. Always ask for high-resolution shots and any relevant information in real time

The second you start making a piece of work is  when you should start cataloging. Your record is  the only reference you’ve got when artwork leaves the studio. In my experience, it’s rare to get a second chance to thoroughly document your work once  it’s out of your hands. Maintain a record yourself— make it part of your regular studio practice.

Each work should be logged with its title, date, medium, dimensions, price, production costs, series, edition, framer, if it was reproduced and where, where it was written about and by who, where it was shown, its market price, how much it sold for after discount, and the amount of any secondary market sales, and who sold it.
